The Hoff!
I was going through the massive mail pile this morning, and upon unboxing a book by Alexander Waugh (grandson of Evelyn), it occurred to me that "Waugh" would make a really great vintage comic sound effect.

Waugh is hell... unless you're an English major! And probably not an American English major, at that. Present company naturally excepted, or in your case, exempt.

Rx and I have taken to exclaiming "Viile BOdies!" in a campy Snagglepuss drawl.

It's almost as much fun as squawking "BLUE mur-der!" a la Mrs. Premise & Mrs. Conclusion.

The son, Auberon Waugh, was hilarious, too. His "Diary", done for Private Eye between 1972 and 1985, is unique; his autobiography is deeply weird for its careening back and forth between jocularity and rage at Evelyn's being such a turd up close and personal:

I understood perfectly well that he was joking, but one never knew how far he would be prepared to go with his jokes.

I've got a decent colection of his stuff; let me show you it the next time you're over at our place, which I trust won't be long.

Well, I crudely photoshopped Winsor McCay :) I DREAM about being able to draw like him!
